| Hey!
Today, on the 14 June, we celebrate World Blood Donor Day! Shien Ling and i volunteered to help out in Singapore's WBDD in the Zoological Gardens. We were doing registration for the Champion Donors, who were blood donors who donated over 50 units of blood! I thought that was really cool man! One old gentleman told Shien Ling that he donated 120+ units!!
Anyway, the volunteers and officials were really really really really nice, especially my aunt, HAHA. But really, my I/C could actually remember my name after a week (okay, i was an official's niece) and my team members were so funny! And Shien Ling and i kept thinking that Alvin, one of our team members, looked and laughed EXACTLY like Jeckie. Our favourite phrase was, "They share an UNCANNY RESEMBLANCE!!!"
Ate rotten food for lunch. Serious. There were people who complained about the bento lunch. Our noodles were all slimy and sticky and sick like !#$%. I have quite a bad stomachache now la! But the apple was damn nice!! We also had Ben & Jerry's! It's my first time having B&J's and i loved it, although it costs a nuclear bomb.
Had a walk around the zoo with Shien Ling! We had our volunteer tags and shirts and we felt like we were slacking on the job! So we decided to act like we were doing important things:
SCENARIO 1: Nic: We need a ticket to enter?! SL: Huh.. then how? Nic: I know! We act like we tracking down scammers like that la, then go like "Sorry sir, i have to pass through. There's a dangerous scammer inside your zoo." SL: OKOK, REALLY AH? Nic: Omg no!
SCENARIO 2: Nic: -fishes out handphone from pocket- Where is he?! I need the cheque now!! SL: Go nearer a smart looking person and say la!!
So fun right!
Apart from all the fun stuff, it's extremely humid in the zoo. Sometimes, where it's really crowded, you really can't breathe at all! Sigh.
Anyone interested in volunteering for WBDD'09?

| Good afternoon,
I just checked on my footprints- someone from our section blog visited my site! Then i suddenly felt that i haven't been giving my section much of its deserved credit on my site.
I PLAY THE BASSOON. Alright, it's not in colour because the images i get on Google are either distasteful or in the wrong colour!! Bassoons are usually made with rosewood timber, which are strong and heavy. Oh yes, it's heavy all right. It is also one of the two double-reed instruments, the other being the oboe, which our dear Rachel Tan Cheng Yee plays.
Extract from Wikepedia, which literally says it all:
The bassoon is a woodwind instrument in the double reed family that typically plays music written in the bass and tenor registers and occasionally even higher. Appearing in its modern form in the 1800s, the bassoon figures prominently in orchestral, concert band, and chamber music literature. The instrument is known for its distinctive tone color, wide range, variety of character, and agility. Its warm, dark, reedy timbre has often been compared to that of a male baritone voice. Due to the complicated fingering and the problem of reeds, the bassoon is an especially difficult instrument to learn; schoolchildren typically take up the bassoon only after starting on another woodwind instrument, such as the flute, clarinet, or saxophone.
That means that i'm very good, HA HA HA.
My section, the lower woodwinds, comprises of three very different lower woodwind instruments. There is the baritone saxophone, which is one of the lower sounding and larger saxophones in the world, and the lowest sounding and largest saxophone in CGSSB. Fadhillah "Fadhillllll!" Musa carries the honour as the one and only Baritone Saxophone player in the school. (Thanks to Rachel for coming up with this prestigious honour for herself and others.)
Lower Wee Wees include the Bass Clarinets, which is by far, one of my favourite instruments, apart from the trumpet! Bass clarinets look like large ladles, and have a really deep sound, that can shake the whole floor, especially when Kelley plays it, whoooo. Right now, Laura and Soo(k) Ching play the instrument in the band.
Last, but not least, there are three bassoons in the band. The newest, Sheenice (She-nice, ha ha!), who is in 1S2!! 1S2 IS THE BEST MAN. She's still learning the ropes and steadily improving. Her senior, and my first junior, Audrey Goh Wei Ling, is the quietest, heck-care-ish girl i have ever seen. She took our section and my family by storm just being silent. As i recounted my numerous accounts with Audrey, my sister is always very astounded.
My section used to have very crazy seniors, all of which have stepped down through the years. Our last hope, people from my year, are the only crazy ones left. After which our section will probably be as dead as wood.

| Hi,
I'm just about to die. I have hardly slept at all for the past 3 days! And that's really sad. In fact, on Thursday, i didn't even sleep through the night, thanks to the stupid idea of making myself cappuccino in the evening. Which only made me more tired in the following day. I followed my sister to Ngee Ann for fun, and OH MY SHIT the broadband there is incredulous. We went back to Popo's house and slept for about 5 hours, and watched Dan In Real Life (again!), except with Ah Yi. We cried so much during the movie, which made a lot more sense, though probably only because we could hear better!
Then dad came to pick the four ladies up, A.K.A Mom, Ah Yi, Belle and me. Alright, this is the event that i hated the most. We went to a bar in Clarke Quay. And dad said we (my sister and i) had to act like 18 or older. Then i said, "I want to be 21 years old!" and they all actually took it seriously. Because my dad looked at my bored face while we were in the bar and he kissed me on the forehead and said, "My 21 year old girl."
The bar, Actors, has a live band for you to utilise if you intend to sing karaoke. As always, my sister had to sing a few songs. It's actually Parent Pressure. The bar has a lot of drunk people, fondling couples and clumsy accidents. It's seriously sleazy and that's (for now) the first and last time i will step into a bar/pub/club ever again.
I'm staying at my cousin's house again! I think i'm going to get sick. I am feeling sore all over and i have a bad headache.
Help, and don't make it worse.
